On Sunday, April 27, 2008 ADAPT will having a national FUN*RUN for Disability Rights at Upper Senate Park in Washington, DC. The FUN*RUN is an event where sponsored people will run, walk, jog and/or roll around Upper Senate Park to raise funds supporting disability rights. The FUN*RUN will kick off a week of activities celebrating ADAPT's 25 years of activism and the changes in our communities that have promoted the community integration of people with disabilities of all ages.

Our 2008 National FUN*RUNNER will be Marca Bristo, President and CEO of Access Living. Marca is a civil and disability rights leader and a major supporter of the principles that lay at the foundation of the Independent Living Movement. Marca was a founder and former President of the National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) and was was appointed the Chairperson of the National Council on Disability (NCD) by President Bill Clinton. Marca and Access Living have been strong supporters of local and National ADAPT. The support of the last Action in Chicago shows their commitment to Direct Action as one tactic to bring about social change.
